MDS and Towers Watson host the Employee Benefits Challenges Conference

Activities, Insight

The 2012 Employee Benefits Challenges Conference was held on November 22, 2012 at the Pestana Palace Hotel in Lisbon and was attended by over 150 participants including mainly clients of Towers Watson and MDS.
The theme for this year edition “Today’s Vision, Tomorrow’s Reality” addressed the issue of transversal responsibility of employee and businesses in the face of dwindling state intervention on matters of Social Security and the necessary culture change.
Many Employee Benefits experts such as MDS Ana Mota, Vasco Cabral Câmara and Nuno Abreu from Towers Watson, Eugénio Carvalho, Executive Director at EDP presenting the EDP Flex case study, and Mário Ribeiro from ISP contributed to the success of the conference. The keynote speaker was former Portugal minister of finance António Bagão Félix who spoke with passion about the “Future of Pensions and Healthcare in Portugal” and the strategic value of “corporate citizenship”.
The afternoon was devoted to detailed presentations on Flexible Benefits, Health Insurance and Pension Plans, while the attendees had the opportunity to ask specific questions pertaining to the reality of the challenges their company faces.
The conference is the manifestation in the market of the recent alliance between MDS and Towers Watson. It was introduced as such in the opening remarks of MDS CEO, José Manuel Dias da Fonseca who said: “This strategic partnership combines skills, teams and know -how“.

BrokersLink 2012: Records Broken, Opportunities Explored

Activities, Insight

The BrokersLink global conference has concluded on a high note at the great satisfaction of everyone. Madrid 2012 has been a year’s record-breaking for this annual get together. With the strongest sponsorship ever, and over 200 attendees from over 50 countries, this event was the largest and most diverse to date, and MDS critical contribution was well recognized by the entire community.

We enjoyed outstanding presentations on global talent management, cyber risks, the economic crisis and the insurance industry, risks related to the Olympic Games, and more. And of course, we were treated to an exceptional keynote speech delivered by AIG’s Robert Benmosche, which was a truly inspirational experience and clearly moved the audience to reflect, connect, and take action.

I couldn’t have been more pleased with the demonstration of energy and initiative presented by all those attending the conference this year. Our MDS marketing team has done an excellent job in the entire management of the event and their work has contributed to convey BrokersLink image as a well-oiled organization.

I can hardly wait until next year’s event –which, as I announced it in Madrid, will be held in Singapore. Hopefully, we’ll see everyone again in Asia for the 5th edition of this amazing global conference.
